ITR Filling Deadline– GCCI has asked the government to extend the return filing deadline to 31 October 2025GCCI said, ITR-5 forms were released late in August and utility forms were released in July instead of April. The government has not yet given any official response or statement on the recommendation to extend the deadline.
The date for filing income tax returns on 15 September 2025 is approaching. In such a situation, taxpayers have less than 1 month left. However, in the meantime, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and many taxpayers have asked the government to extend the deadline of 15 September once again. Looking at the current time, it does not seem that all the returns will be filed on time.
Recommendation to make the deadline 31 October 2025
In fact, GCCI has written a letter to the government and recommended the last date for filing returns to 31 October 2025. GCCI has told the government that taxpayers are currently facing many technical problems in filing returns, due to which the time till September 15 is short.
There was a delay in issuing many forms
GCCI has informed the government that many ITR-5 forms have been released late in August, and many utility forms have been released in July instead of April. Therefore, getting them audited and then filing them by the deadline seems difficult.
However, the government has not yet given any official statement on the recommendation to extend the deadline. But the way taxpayers and GCCI are putting pressure on the government, it is possible that the date for filing returns may be extended once again.
Let us tell you that earlier in May, the government had extended the deadline for ITR filing from 31 July 2025 to 15 September 2025. The government had said that this time there have been many major changes in the ITR form, due to which taxpayers are being given more time to file returns.
