The PMAY-U 2.0 scheme gives strong pucca houses to eligible families in cities. The scheme works for the goal of ‘Housing for All’. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs gives financial help to families who qualify.

Under the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS) of PMAY-U 2.0, eligible families get a subsidy on home loans given on 01.09.2024 or later. This is for EWS (Economically Weaker Section), LIG (Low Income Group), and MIG (Middle Income Group) families for buying, rebuilding, or making a house. Families with annual income up to ₹3 lakh (EWS), ₹6 lakh (LIG), and ₹9 lakh (MIG) can get this help. To show they qualify, the loan applicant must give proof of income.

Verification Work of PMAY Gramin 2.0 is Slow

The verification of the eligibility list under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Gramin 2.0 is moving slower than expected in the district. Based on the survey, 48,361 beneficiaries were selected, but the verification could not be completed on time. So far, officials have checked only 16,000 applications.

Target and Progress

The government had directed that out of the total 48,361 applications, the verification of 23,330 randomly selected applications should be completed by July 31. The task was assigned to the concerned officers and employees. However, only 16,000 applications have been verified so far. This leaves about 7,330 applications pending.

Reason for Delay

Due to slow progress, the district is considered backward in the state. Officials say that the survey has prepared a list of eligible families, and the verification is being done in the field. During verification, officers check the actual status of the beneficiary, availability of land, and other documents.

Steps to Speed Up

Department officials say they are giving instructions to the teams to speed up the work. They claim that the average number of verifications per day will increase in the coming days so that all eligible beneficiaries can get the benefits of the scheme on time.
