Mumbai Red Alert for Heavy Rainfall – Mumbai has been put on high alert again regarding heavy rainfall. IMD has issued a red alert for August 18. This warning has been issued for areas such as Borivali, Thane, Kalyan, Mulund, Powai, Santacruz, Chembur, Worli, Navi Mumbai, and Colaba. Due to the continuous heavy rains in Mumbai, the daily routines of the people have been completely affected. Due to heavy rains, waterlogging on the roads and traffic jams have made life difficult for the ordinary people.
Many other districts of Mumbai and Maharashtra are witnessing rain on Monday. Due to the rain, water has accumulated in many places, resulting in traffic jams. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Mumbai for today.
The havoc caused by heavy rain was evident in the Vikhroli Parksite area. Two people have also died, and two others were seriously injured due to landslides here. Heavy rains not only affected the roads but also disrupted the local train services of Central and Western Railways.
Weather forecast for the coming days
According to IMD, heavy to hefty rains are going to continue in Mumbai till August 20. After this, light rains will continue till August 23. The maximum temperature in Mumbai today is expected to be 26.5°C, and the minimum temperature is expected to be 24 °C. IMD has appealed to the people living in Mumbai and the surrounding areas to be cautious. People have been advised to avoid going to the beach and refrain from leaving the house unless necessary.
Rain havoc is also being seen in many districts of Maharashtra. The IMD has issued an orange alert for districts such as Nashik, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Solapur, Ahmednagar, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. According to the Meteorological Department, a warning has been issued for heavy to hefty rains in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada till August 19. Additionally, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.
