The three-tier panchayat elections were concluded in Uttarakhand a few days ago, after which all eyes are on Uttar Pradesh. To woo voters, potential candidates in the village have started meeting with four people and sharing their sorrows and pains.

Many candidates are seen trying their luck in the UP three-tier panchayat elections. In this, voting is held for the posts of Gram Pradhan, Ward Member, Area Panchayat and District Panchayat. After the new delimitation in Uttar Pradesh, the number of Gram Panchayats has declined. In the Panchayat elections of the year 2021, there were 3,050 wards of District Panchayat members, 75,845 wards of Area Panchayat members and 7,32,643 wards of Gram Panchayat members across the state.

This time, due to the expansion of urban bodies, 512 Gram Panchayats have been reduced. 11 new Gram Panchayats have been formed. There were 58195 Gram Panchayats in the elections of the year 2021. Now there are 57694 Gram Panchayats left in the state. About 4600 wards of Gram Panchayats, about 250 wards of Area Panchayat and about 12 wards of District Panchayat may be reduced.

When is the three-tier Panchayat election possible

The Election Commission has started preparations, and now everyone is waiting for the date to be cleared. If media reports are to be believed, there is a possibility of UP three-tier Panchayat elections being held this year. Panchayat elections are expected next year.

It is expected that panchayat elections can be held in March-April. For this, the Election Commission can issue a notification in January 2026. As soon as the notification is issued, the candidates will start putting in all their efforts.
