To get a government ration, it is now necessary for all family members to complete e-KYC. After this order came from the headquarters, the Food and Supply Department officials became alert.
Controller Aditya Kaushik has sent a copy of the order to all inspectors. They have been told to inform the depot holders about this rule so that the e-KYC process can be completed soon. After e-KYC is done, any member of the family can collect ration from the depot. Earlier, only the biometric verification of the head of the family was required.
e-KYC is Now Compulsory for Ration
Now, it is necessary for all family members to complete e-KYC to get government ration. This rule has been made to stop fraud and to check how many people are in the family. It will also help find out if any family is taking ration from more than one state.
The government found that many people have made fake BPL cards to get benefits from different schemes. Some people have also made BPL cards in other states and are taking ration from there too. To stop this, the government has made e-KYC compulsory for all members of the cardholder’s family.
How to Do e-KYC from Home
People can do e-KYC from home using the Mera e-KYC app. After downloading the app, e-KYC can be done by showing your face through your phone. This will be verified using an OTP.
All family members under the National Food Security Act must complete e-KYC. After registration, any member can collect ration from the depot. If e-KYC is not done, there could be problems in getting ration, and the ration card may also be cancelled in the future.
