Vivo X200 Camera Review: When I first started using the Vivo X200, I was a little jealous of the X200 Pro. After all, the Pro model has the powerful telephoto camera that the X200 doesn’t. But as I used this phone for about two weeks, my opinion changed completely. Now I can confidently say that the Vivo X200 is the best Android smartphone of this year – and that too in a very “value for money” way.
If I had to sum up this review in one line, I would just say this – buy this phone, open the camera, click a photo and see the result. That’s it! That’s the whole story. Yes, I agree that the OS is not the smoothest, this phone is not at the top level in gaming, the battery is also not the longest and the display is also not the brightest – but the camera? That is beyond amazing!
Design and display: Looks royal, light in hand
The thickness of Vivo X200 is just 8mm and weighs 200 grams – neither too heavy nor too light, absolutely perfect. As soon as you take it in your hand, you get a premium feel. And the big camera bump with Zeiss branding on the back gives it a photography pro look. The silver and sunburst ring around the camera further enhances its premium touch.
The phone gets a 6.67-inch OLED quad-curved screen, which has the magic of Zeiss Master Color. The resolution is 1.5K and the refresh rate is 120Hz – meaning the screen is smooth and colorful too. This display gives brightness up to 4,500 nits, meaning it will be fun to use even in bright sunlight. The edges of the screen are now flat and the edges of the display meet the midframe, making the whole phone look even more sleek.
Performance: Power of MediaTek Dimensity 9400
Now let’s talk about its performance. Vivo X200 has MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400 SoC which is built on 3nm technology. It gets 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There is also 16GB of virtual RAM which makes multitasking as light as air.
I did all the everyday tasks with this phone – browsing, social media, camera use, multitasking – everything went smoothly. Even games like Call of Duty were played comfortably, and yes, the phone did get a little hot, but never too much. Yes, if you are a heavy gamer, then maybe a series like ROG is better for you, but as a normal user, this performance is awesome.
Software: FunTouch OS made heart-winning improvements
Vivo X200 comes with Android 15 based FunTouch OS 15. I didn’t like Funtouch earlier, but it has improved a lot now. The interface is cleaner, lighter and the customisation is great.
There are some great AI features like AI Notes and Circle to Search. There is also a personal AI assistant called Jovi, which is non-removable but isn’t too much of a hassle. Yes, there is still some botchware, but much less than the previous version.
Camera: The heart and soul of the X200
Now let’s talk about the camera, which is the strongest part of the Vivo X200. All three 50MP sensors – primary, telephoto and ultrawide – perform brilliantly.
The primary camera gives clear and colorful photos in every lighting. Landscape photos with the ultrawide lens come out very natural.
There are many focal lengths available in portrait mode, especially the 50mm and 85mm shots give a DSLR-like feel. Zeiss effects make photos even more stylish.
The telephoto camera gives good detail with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Macro photos also come out clear.
The selfie camera is decent, enough for social media.
Speaker and sound: A little behind
Now talking about audio, it has dual speakers, but they are not very special. The sound gets distorted when the volume is above 70%. You will have to resort to headphones for gaming or movies.
Battery and charging: Big battery, thin body
The Vivo X200 has a big battery of 5,800mAh, which is 16% more than the previous model. And the most amazing thing is that such a big battery is given in a thin and light body.
The phone runs comfortably for one and a half days on a single charge. If you do not play much games, then it can also last for two days. It has 3rd-gen Silicon anode and semi-solid battery technology, due to which the battery does not take up much space but remains powerful.
Final Verdict: If you like the camera, don’t think of anything else
The Vivo X200 is an all-rounder smartphone, but its biggest weapon is the camera. If you are a camera lover, love clicking portraits, or want a phone that looks premium, the Vivo X200 is perfect.
The display is great, the performance is great, the battery is solid
