Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG : CNG Bike in India

Bajaj Auto seems to have taken the lead by launching India’s first CNG motorcycle, probably called Freedom 125 CNG. This would entail dual fuel operation for this motorcycle, meaning that it could also run on CNG, depending on the availability of the fuel.

The expected mileage is over 100 km per kg of CNG, which makes it very affordable. The rumored price range, according to sources, is somewhere between 85,000 and 90,000 rupees. Hence, it shall benefit plenty of students, office-goers, and delivery workers in their daily activities.

TVS CNG Motorcycle-a Likely Launch

TVS, yet another trusted name in the Indian two-wheeler market, is also rumored to be working on a CNG bike. This could be the upgraded version of either TVS Sport or TVS Radeon, both of which are famous for their mileage and durability.

There hasn’t been any confirmation from the company side regarding this, but with TVS’s CNG bike, competition will be very tough due to its broad-service network and high durability build quality.

Why CNG Motorcycles Make Sense

CNG bikes will be much cheaper to carry fuel, cause less pollution, and reduce emissions more than petrol bikes. Further, since CNG is cheaper than petrol, it would be more economical for any commuter doing so day-in and day-out. Maintenance is also said to be easier due to long-term durability and efficient design of the engine.

Some Obstacles

The only major concern for CNG bikes is the availability of CNG stations, especially in smaller towns or cities. They might have lesser power or pickup compared to petrol bikes but that hardly matters when you are in a city.
