Now, PF (Provident Fund) money can be withdrawn easily using ATMs or UPI, just like withdrawing money from a bank account. Ordinary people have long been complaining about the complicated process of withdrawing PF funds. Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has also acknowledged this problem. According to him, people still have to fill out multiple forms to withdraw PF money, which is extremely troublesome. However, the government is now going to change this rule.
At an event, Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the PF withdrawal process will soon become completely digital and much simpler. According to the plan, the facility to withdraw money directly from PF accounts through UPI and ATMs will be launched by March 2026. At that time, withdrawing PF money will be as easy as withdrawing money from a bank.
Work is progressing rapidly
The government has already started preparations to link PF accounts with UPI and ATMs. Sources in the Labour Ministry have indicated that this process is progressing rapidly and is likely to be launched even before the scheduled time. Currently, PF accounts are linked to bank accounts, Aadhaar, and UAN. Now, debit cards, UPI, and ATMs will be added to this system. As a result, employees will be able to withdraw up to 75 percent of their PF funds at any time if needed.

How to withdraw PF money using ATM or UPI?
Currently, there is no direct facility to link a PF account with UPI. However, if EPFO introduces this system, it is expected that all processes will be done through an online method. New options may be provided on both the EPFO member portal and the UMANG app.
The first requirement for linking a PF account with UPI is an active UAN (Universal Account Number). In addition, Aadhaar, bank account, and PAN must be linked to the UAN. The mobile number must also be linked to both Aadhaar and the bank account, as the entire process will be completed through OTP-based verification.
According to the likely rules, the member may have to log in to the EPFO portal or the UMANG app and select a new option such as ‘Link PF with UPI’ or ‘PF Withdrawal via UPI’. After providing the UPI ID, an authorization notification will appear on apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM. Approving this notification will complete the verification process, and the PF account will be linked to UPI.

PF in one click
According to the government, the introduction of the PF-UPI link will bring great relief to the common people. PF withdrawals will become faster, more transparent, and hassle-free. However, members must ensure their KYC is complete and up-to-date.
The Union Minister also stated that under the current rules, members can withdraw up to 75 percent of their PF balance if needed. The remaining 25 percent is kept for future security and interest benefits. The new system will make this facility even easier and faster.
