Earlier in Uttar Pradesh, advance ration was to be available from May 21, but now its dates have been changed. According to the Food and Logistics Department, the ration for May will be available only till today i.e. May 20. After this, vigorous preparations will start for the distribution of ration for June, July and August. The process of getting advance ration will start from May 25. But, the government has now started to rein in those people who are taking ration fraudulently.
Curbing ration fraud
Recently, a shocking revelation has been made that ration was being taken in the name of dead people in Ghazipur. In the verification of the District Supply Office, more than 15,000 such names have come to the fore, who are no longer in this world. But, on paper, they are still alive and ration is being taken in their name. This is a serious matter, on which the government is now going to take strict action.
E-KYC is mandatory
To prevent such fraud, the government has made the process of e-KYC mandatory for ration card holders. Most of the beneficiaries of the state have already got their e-KYC done. If you have not got your e-KYC done yet, then assume that your name will be removed from the list.
Although the last date for getting e-KYC done was March 31, you should immediately contact your nearest ration dealer or food department office. You can do this work very easily from your mobile too. This is a very important step to ensure your eligibility.
How to check the ration card eligibility list
You can find out online from home whether your name is in the eligibility list of the ration card or not. If your name is in the list, then you are entitled to get a month’s advance ration. If your name is not in this list and you meet the eligibility conditions, then immediately go to the department’s office and get the correction done. Follow these easy steps to check your eligibility list:
First of all, you have to go to the official portal of the Food and Logistics Department of your state.
On the home page you will see the option of ‘Ration Card Eligibility List’, click on it.
On clicking this, the list of ration cards of all the districts will open.
Click on the district whose list you want to see.
Now the list of names of the city/village will open, select your city or village.
Now the list of shopkeepers of that city/village will open. Click on the ration card number given in front of the shopkeeper who has your ration card.
The list of all the beneficiaries will open in front of you.
If your name is in it, then you will get a ration. This list will also mention how many members are there in your family.
Remove the name of the dead person immediately
If there is a name of a person in your ration card list who is no longer with you or who has passed away, then immediately remove his name from the ration card. Given the strictness of the administration, this small greed can cost you dearly. If someone is taking a ration in the name of a dead person, then the entire amount from the date of death to the current date can be recovered from him. This is a serious crime, which you should avoid and follow honesty.
