The Aadhaar card is not only made for adults but also children. For the last several years,the Government of India has been issuing Aadhaar cards for children below the age of 5 years. It is called Bal Aadhaar. After 5 years,it has to be updated and then it is called Minor Aadhaar. Aadhaar card is issued by UIDAI.
Children’s Aadhaar card is linked to one of the parents. Biometric data is not used in children’s Aadhaar card. Along with the Aadhaar number,only information like child’s name,photo,gender,date of birth is included. Biometric data is taken after 5 years. You can follow the online process to get Bal Aadhaar. It can be downloaded online.
How to apply online for Bal Aadhaar card
You can apply online to get a Bal Aadhaar card. You have need to visit the official website of UIDAI. After reaching the website,choose your language like Hindi or English. After this,you have to click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and select the ‘Book an Appointment’ option. After this,click on the ‘Book an appointment at Aadhaar Seva Kendra operated by UIDAI’ option and select the city where you want the appointment. After selecting the city,click on ‘Proceed to book an appointment’.

Proceed with OTP
Now you will be taken to the next page. Enter your mobile number there and enter the captcha code. After that click on ‘Get OTP’. An OTP will come to your phone number,enter it,and finalize the date for the appointment. After this,you have to visit the Aadhaar center on the scheduled date.
It is worth noting that the parents whose Aadhaar will be linked to the child’s Aadhaar will have to submit their biometric details at the center. Along with this,the required documents and forms will also have to be submitted. After a few days,your Baal Aadhaar will reach your address through post. You will also be able to download it from the UIDAI website.
Check the status like this
If you have applied for Bal Aadhaar,then you can check your status online. Status can be checked with the help of enrollment ID. For this,you have to go to the UIDAI website again. There you will find the option of My Aadhaar. After clicking on it,click on the enrollment ID. Enter the captcha code and click on the submit button. After this,you will see the status.
Apply for a Minor Aadhaar Card like this
If your child is older than 5 years,then you can apply for his Aadhaar card or apply for Minor Aadhaar. However,this work is not done online. For this you have to go to the Aadhaar enrollment center. There you have to submit the required documents. Only after that you will be able to get the Aadhaar card of the minor. However,the status can be checked online.
