Bank Holiday April: Bank customers stay alert! For April 2026,the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has published the official list of bank holidays. Weekends,national holidays,and local celebrations are among the 14 days this month that banks nationwide are anticipated to be closed. The Negotiable Instruments Act holidays,Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays,and bank account closure holidays comprise the three categories of bank holidays in India.

In addition,banks are closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. Each state has its own holidays. Holidays aren’t always observed nationally. For instance,North India is where most people celebrate Baisakhi. Tamil New Year is observed in Tamil Nadu,while Bohag Bihu is observed in Assam. Therefore,make sure to check your state’s holiday list before visiting the bank.

List of Bank Holidays

The first few days of April will be affected by banking services. On April 1st,banks nationwide will close for general customer service to begin the new fiscal year. Due to Maundy Thursday,banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram,Kerala,will be closed the next day,April 2. On April 3,a number of cities,including Ahmedabad,Bhopal,Bengaluru,Dehradun,Guwahati,Kanpur,Lucknow,Mumbai,Delhi,Patna,Raipur,and Shimla,will close their banks in observance of Good Friday.

All banks will be closed on April 11th,a second Saturday,and on April 5th,a Sunday. April 12th,Sunday,will be a weekly holiday. There are numerous holidays in the second half of April. The second half of the month will also see a few days of bank closures. Several cities,including Agartala,Ahmedabad,Bengaluru,Bhubaneswar,Dehradun,Guwahati,Hyderabad,Jaipur,Jammu,Lucknow,Mumbai,Patna,and Ranchi,will have their banks closed on April 14.
