How to lock Aadhaar biometrics online
To lock your Aadhaar biometrics,you first need to generate an Aadhaar Virtual ID (VID). To do this,you can log in to the official website of UIDAI and click on the ‘VID Generator’ option.
First,go to the UIDAI myAadhaar portal.
After this,scroll down and click on the ‘Lock/Unlock Aadhaar’ option.
Then you have to click on the ‘Next’ option.
Then verify the OTP. After verification,your Aadhaar biometrics will be locked. This security function keeps your Aadhaar details safe. Also gives an additional layer of security.
How to lock Aadhaar biometrics from the mAadhaar app
First,download the mAadhaar app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Next,log in to the app from the registered mobile number.
Then click on the ‘my Aadhaar’ icon.
Enter your Aadhaar number,and captcha code and complete the OTP verification.
Select the ‘Biometric Lock’ option to lock your Aadhaar biometrics.
Once enabled,this feature protects your fingerprint,iris,and face data from unnecessary access.
How to lock biometrics via SMS
If you want to lock your Aadhaar biometrics but don’t have internet access,you can easily lock your biometrics via SMS.
Send the message [GETOTP (space) last 4 digits of Aadhaar] to 1947 from your Aadhaar linked mobile number. Then verify the OTP via SMS. If your phone number is linked to multiple Aadhaar numbers,use the last 8 digits instead of the last 4 digits. This way your biometrics will be locked.
