Sunita Williams Return: NASA astronaut Sunita Williams and her colleague Butch Wilmore have finally returned to Earth after 9 months. Both astronauts landed safely on the coast of Florida at 3.30 am on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) as per Indian time. The astronauts have returned to Earth after a journey of 17 hours.
The astronauts’ SpaceX capsule parachuted into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday (March 19, 2025), just hours after leaving the International Space Station. The splashdown took place off the coast of Tallahassee, Florida. A video of the astronauts’ landing has also been released by space agency NASA. Sunita Williams and her colleague Butch Wilmore left for space on June 5, 2024 last year, aboard the Boeing Starliner Crew Capsule.
Although their mission was only for a week, due to a technical fault in the space station, NASA had to evacuate the Starliner and shift the astronauts to space. Due to technical fault, their return was postponed till February this year. After returning from space, Sunita Williams and her colleagues were taken on a stretcher. This is a kind of protocol that every astronaut has to follow. The reason for this is that astronauts are not able to walk immediately after returning from space. Many changes take place in their body.
