WhatsApp Bill Payment: Nowadays, many people pay their monthly bills using various apps. Did you know you can pay all your bills at once using WhatsApp? WhatsApp has introduced a new bill payment feature that allows you to easily pay for electricity, water, gas, FASTag, and credit cards—all from a single app. This eliminates the need to open multiple apps repeatedly, letting you manage daily payments in one place.
Which bills can be paid?
With this WhatsApp feature, you can make various essential payments in one location. The app supports payments for water, electricity, piped gas, FASTag, and more. Additionally, it offers options for insurance, credit card bill payments, and loan repayments. However, you can only pay bills for specific companies or departments if they are available on this network.
Feature linked to the Bharat Connect network
WhatsApp’s bill payment feature is integrated with the Bharat Connect network (also known as BBPS). This allows users to choose from a variety of billers. Users can select the bill category and the service provider within the app. While bills from many companies and departments are available, availability depends on whether the specific biller is on the network.
How to pay bills via WhatsApp
To pay a bill, first open WhatsApp on your mobile phone. Next, tap on the rupee icon located on the home screen. Here, you will see the ‘Bill Payments’ option. Select the category of the bill you wish to pay; for instance, if paying an electricity bill, select ‘Electricity’ and then choose the specific electricity department or service provider.
When will the bill appear?
After selecting the service provider, enter your customer number or account number. Once you enter this information, if the bill is available in the system, the bill amount will be displayed on the screen. Before making the payment, carefully verify the amount and other details. Once everything is correct, you can proceed to the payment option to settle the bill. It is a very simple process.
Pay multiple bills using a single app
This WhatsApp feature will be particularly beneficial for those who have to pay various types of bills every month. It eliminates the need to open separate apps for electricity, water, gas, or other utility payments. The feature also allows you to access previously used billers, making future payments even easier.
Not available to all users yet
Please note that WhatsApp’s bill payment feature is being rolled out to users across the country in phases. If you don’t see this option on your phone yet, no need to worry; you may receive the feature later. WhatsApp is likely to make it available to a wider user base soon.
