Weather Update: Many parts of the country are witnessing the final phase of monsoon rains. The Meteorological Department has issued rainfall alerts for several states. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, 15 states have received rainfall warnings—ranging from light to heavy—for September 25. The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms and lightning alongside the rain, and it expects strong winds in some states.
Alerts have been issued for Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, with rainfall expected within the next 12 hours. According to the department, wind speeds near the coasts of South Odisha, North Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam are currently between 55 and 65 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 75 kmph. Furthermore, very light rain is possible in several areas on September 26. This period may bring thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds with gusts reaching up to 50 kmph. The department also predicts light rain—with moderate rainfall in some places—for Delhi on September 27, lasting from morning through the afternoon.
Uttar Pradesh Weather
The Meteorological Department has forecast torrential rain today for several districts in western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Maharajganj, Basti, and Mirzapur. Rainfall is expected to continue across many districts on September 25, though the impact will be most significant in eastern Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, this spell of rain in the region will continue until September 27.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in several parts of Bihar. Additionally, thunderstorms are expected, accompanied by strong winds blowing at speeds of 50 to 70 km/h.
Rain in Himachal Pradesh
An alert has been issued for heavy rain in several districts of Himachal Pradesh—including Kangra, Mandi, and Shimla—on September 26. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected to continue on September 27 and 28, with heavy rainfall forecast for the state on September 28.
Weather in Uttarakhand
According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, heavy rain is likely in Uttarakhand on September 25, and heavy rainfall may occur on September 26 as well. The IMD indicates that the likelihood of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms will persist across most districts of Uttarakhand until September 28.
