In a significant effort to promote education and gender equality, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched the Pragati Scholarship Scheme for girl students enrolled in technical diploma courses at AICTE-approved institutions. This initiative aims to support the educational aspirations of young women and equip them with the skills and confidence needed for a successful future.
Benefits
Under the Pragati Scholarship Scheme, eligible girl students enrolled in either the first or second year of a technical diploma course can receive financial assistance of ₹50,000 per annum for a maximum of three years for first-year students and two years for second-year students admitted through lateral entry. This financial aid can be utilized for various educational expenses such as college fees, purchase of computers, stationery, books, equipment, software, etc.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Pragati Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be a girl student.
- She must be enrolled in either the first year or second year of the diploma course through lateral entry.
- The annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹8,00,000 during the current financial year.
Exclusions and Disqualifications
Certain conditions apply for the continuation of the scholarship:
- If a student fails or drops out in a subsequent year, she will not be eligible for further scholarship.
- The scholarship will be discontinued if the student receives financial assistance from any other source during her course of study.
- The gap period between passing the qualifying examination and admission to a degree course should not exceed two years.
- The scholarship is limited to a maximum of two girl children per family.
Application Process
The application process for the Pragati Scholarship Scheme is conducted online. Applicants need to follow these steps

- Fill in the registration form and obtain an Application ID and password.
- Sign in using the provided credentials and fill out the application form.
