New Delhi: While the calendar may still say March, the weather in India is painting a different picture. Scorching heat has gripped parts of the country, making life uncomfortable for many.

This erratic pattern, with scorching days and chilly nights, is causing confusion and health concerns. Let’s delve deeper into the weather conditions across various regions:

Uttar Pradesh: Scorching Days, Chilly Nights

The residents of Uttar Pradesh are already feeling the summer heat. Agra, the majestic city of the Taj Mahal, is experiencing intense sunlight from early morning onwards. Despite nearing the end of March, daytime temperatures remain uncomfortably high. However, nights offer a reprieve with a mild chill.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts no significant change in the state’s weather in the coming days. A glimmer of hope comes in the form of a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in the eastern parts of UP on March 19th and 20th.

Delhi: Partly Cloudy with Mild Temperatures

The national capital, Delhi, seems to be escaping the worst of the heatwave. The IMD forecasts partly cloudy skies for the next few days, with a maximum temperature of 31°C and a minimum of 11°C. This provides a welcome respite for Delhiites, offering them some relief from the scorching sun.

Central India: Brace for Storms and Hail

Central India, however, is bracing for some dramatic weather events. The IMD has predicted storms with lightning, hailstorms, and moderate to heavy rain in parts of the region from March 17th to 20th. Another disturbance is expected from the night of March 20th, bringing the possibility of light rain or snowfall in various areas including Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh.

Rain Expected in Hill States and South India

The good news for residents of the hilly regions is the possibility of light rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad in the coming week. Similarly, Kerala might experience some light rain in the coming days.

Scattered Rains Across Other States

The IMD has issued rain alerts for Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and East Madhya Pradesh. Light rain with thunder and lightning is expected for the next three days in these states. Additionally, there’s a chance of light hailstorms in Vidarbha (March 17-20) and East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh (March 17-19).

The northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are also likely to experience light rain with thunder and lightning between March 17th and 22nd.

Staying Safe in Unpredictable Weather

With such erratic weather patterns, it’s crucial to stay prepared and take precautions to safeguard your health. Here are some tips:

    • Hydration is Key: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated, especially during hot and sunny days.
    • Adjust Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting, breathable cotton clothes to allow air circulation and keep you cool.
    • Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and wear sunglasses and a hat when outdoors during the day.
    • Monitor Weather Updates: Stay informed about the latest weather forecasts to plan your activities accordingly.
    • Seek Medical Attention: If you experience any symptoms like fever, chills, or excessive sweating, consult a doctor immediately.
