Tata Aeris Launch Date: Tata Motors is preparing to replace its popular compact sedan, the Tigor, with a new model in the Indian market. The company will unveil the new Tata Aeris on September 25, 2026. Ahead of the launch, a new teaser has been released, offering a first glimpse of the car’s front-left section and rear quarter panel. The Tata Aeris will be a new subcompact sedan replacing the Tigor. It is expected to feature a new design, a premium cabin, a 1.2L petrol engine, and options for CNG and an AMT gearbox.

Tata Aeris Teaser

Tata Motors has released a new teaser for the Aeris on its official channel. The video begins with several computer-generated cars parked in a parking area, all covered in an eggshell-like casing.

The camera then focuses on the Tata Aeris; it is also concealed by this covering, which cracks and falls away after a few moments. This reveals glimpses of the sedan’s rear-left quarter panel and front-left section. However, the entire car is not yet fully revealed, so its final design will only be unveiled on September 25.

The teaser reveals that the Aeris will feature LED headlamps. Their design appears similar to that of the current Tata Tiago. An LED DRL is visible above the headlamp, while the bumper houses an LED fog lamp setup. Sharp cuts and creases on the body are also visible, contributing to a more modern design.

Exterior

The front profile is expected to feature a new slim grille, sharper LED headlamps, and a redesigned bumper. Additionally, the lower air dam may get a sleeker design, and the fog lamp styling could differ from that of the Tigor.

Major changes to the side profile are unlikely, though new alloy wheels could give the sedan a fresh look. The most significant change at the rear is expected to be the inclusion of connected LED tail lamps. A redesigned tailgate, a sculpted bumper, and vertical reflectors are also anticipated.

Cabin

As for the cabin, the Tata Aeris is expected to receive significant equipment upgrades. It may feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a semi-digital driver display. Features such as cruise control and automatic climate control are also anticipated.

For connectivity, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay could be offered. Additionally, this sedan might include amenities such as a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.

Safety

Regarding safety, the Tata Aeris is expected to come with a robust package. Reports suggest that all variants of the sedan could be equipped with six airbags. Safety features such as ABS, EBD, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts will also be included. However, the likelihood of the Aeris featuring ADAS currently appears low.

Engine

In terms of the engine, the Tata Aeris is expected to retain the Tigor’s existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine generates 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options may include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

It is also worth noting that a factory-fitted CNG version of the Aeris is expected. This could feature a dual-cylinder CNG setup, which helps manage boot space more effectively compared to the traditional single-cylinder layout. In CNG mode, the engine may deliver an output of approximately 76 PS and 97 Nm. Both petrol and CNG versions are expected to offer manual and AMT gearbox options.

Price

As for the price, the new Tata Aeris is expected to be priced between ₹6 lakh and ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will compete with compact sedans such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze.
