Sprite Tejas Express: Indian Railways is concentrating on boosting its revenues while enhancing passenger facilities. The Tejas Express, which operates between Lucknow and Delhi, is set to become India’s first privately branded train. It will now carry the Sprite branding for the next three months, officially named the Sprite Tejas Express. IRCTC has granted Sprite advertising rights for a total of six months.

When will the Sprite Tejas Express name change?

If you travel on the Tejas Express from Lucknow to Delhi, you will see the Sprite Tejas Express name displayed from August 19th to November 11th, 2026. This branding will be visible not only on the train but also on station displays and announcements, ensuring that the Tejas Express is recognized by this new name for the next three months.

Railways is beginning to generate revenue through branding

The Tejas Express is a private train that pays a fee to IRCTC. With the introduction of private branding, the railway’s revenue is expected to increase. While branding on trains or platforms is not new, this marks the first instance of a train’s name being associated with a brand. Now, various brands and private companies will have the chance to advertise their brands on train coaches as well. This initiative will boost railway revenue while promoting their brands.

 

This change is unprecedented

 

This is the first occasion in railway history that a brand name has been incorporated into a train’s identity. The Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 3, 2021. This superfast, air-conditioned train provides a variety of modern amenities, including food and beverages. Group bookings are also available for passengers, and entire coaches can be reserved for corporate events or meetings. Group bookings are also available on the train. This means that individuals traveling together for occasions like corporate meetings, weddings, or other events can reserve an entire AC Chair Car coach. The Lucknow Delhi Tejas Express was officially launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 3, 2021.
