The 2026 Under-19 World Cup will be hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia in February-March. The West Indies cricket team has announced its squad for this ICC tournament. Top-order batsman Joshua Dorn will captain the West Indies in this important tournament. All-rounder Jonathan van Lange Dorn will serve as vice-captain. The West Indies team will play its first match in this tournament on January 15.
The 15-member West Indies squad also includes 19-year-old batsman Jewel Andrew, who has played three ODIs and five T20Is for the West Indies national team. The West Indies team will enter this tournament after playing consecutive seven-match Youth ODI series at home against Sri Lanka and England. Dorn was the leading run-scorer in both these series. Apart from him, several other players who were seen playing in those series, including Zackary Carter, Matthew Miller, Jakeem Pollard, Shaquan Bailey and Vitel Lodge, have also been included in the World Cup squad.
Recent performance of West Indies Under-19 players
A total of 10 matches were played in the Sri Lanka and England series. In those 10 matches, Pollard took 18 wickets at an average of 16.27. Whereas, Bell took 15 wickets in nine matches. Talking about Lowes, he got only one wicket in three matches against England, but he made a brilliant comeback by taking 14 wickets in six matches against Sri Lanka at an average of 14.92.
In this Under-19 World Cup, West Indies has been placed in Group D along with South Africa, Afghanistan and Tanzania. They will start their campaign against Tanzania on January 15 in Windhoek. After this, their team will play matches against Afghanistan and South Africa.
