Yashasvi Jaiswal was recently presented in a live programme, where he had to face multiple questions related to the current set-up of Team India. The host of the programme asked Jaiswal who is the most hardworking player in the present squad. Making everyone surprise, the young opener did not mention Virat Kohli’s name, who is known for his fitness all over the world.

Who is the most hardworking player in the team according to Jaiswal?

When Yashasvi was asked in an interview who the hardest-working player in the Indian team was, he immediately named Shubman Gill. Yashasvi said, “Shubman Gill. I’ve seen him closely. He works very hard on his fitness, diet, skills, training, everything. His consistency and discipline are amazing. Watching him and playing with him is always a great experience.”

Jaiswal further stated that Gill’s batting performance during the England Test series was excellent and responsible. “We had full confidence that he would score runs for the team in all conditions,” he said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been out of the T20 team for a year, but he has recently performed brilliantly in ODIs. Following the World Cup, he scored an unbeaten 116 in the decisive ODI against South Africa, leading India to a comfortable nine-wicket victory. This century came as a significant relief after scores of 18 and 22 in the first two matches. This innings demonstrated his ability to seize opportunities.

Virat Kohli ‘s work ethic has been a benchmark for Indian cricketers. However, Yashasvi believes that Gill’s hard work, preparation and skill set currently make him the most dedicated player in the team.
