Before end of the year 2025, an official list of top batters of this year has arrived. With the list, we can se which batters have scored the most amount of runs in this year. The list contains only the ODI numbers. So, T20I and Tests runs are not considerable in the tally. It is worth to mention that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sarma are in the list.
Top ODI run scorers in 2025
1. Joe Root
England’s Joe Root was the leading run-scorer in ODIs in 2025. He amassed 808 runs in 15 matches at an average of 57.71, including three centuries and four half-centuries.
2. Daryl Mitchell
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell scored 761 runs in 17 ODIs in 2025, averaging 54.35. Scotland’s George Munsey is third on the list, scoring 735 runs in 11 matches at an average of 73.50.
3. Matthew Brietzke
South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke has scored 706 runs in 12 ODIs at an average of 64.18. West Indies captain and wicketkeeper Shai Hope has 697 runs in 15 matches at an average of 55.83.
4. Salman Ali Agha
Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha is sixth on the list, having scored 667 runs in 17 ODIs at an average of 47.64. He is followed by Milind Kumar of the United States, who has scored 652 runs in 12 matches at an average of 81.50.
5. Virat Kohli
India’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli is eighth on the list. Kohli scored 651 runs in 13 ODIs in 2025, averaging 65.10. He scored three centuries and four half-centuries.
6. Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma, known as the “Hitman,” scored 650 runs in 14 matches at an average of 50.00, including two centuries and four half-centuries. The veteran all-rounder is ranked tenth. He has 604 runs in 14 ODIs in 2025, averaging 43.14.
Three Indians are on the list of the top 10 cricketers with the most runs in ODI cricket in 2025. The list is topped by legendary batsman Virat Kohli, followed by players from the United States and Pakistan. Joe Root is at the top.
