Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a spectacular win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday by completing the second-highest run chase in IPL history. SRH chased the huge target of 246 runs set by PBKS with 8 wickets in hand and 9 balls to spare. Travis Head (66) and Abhishek Sharma (141) played explosive innings and turned the match in Hyderabad’s favour.
During the match, Abhishek’s batting became the main talking point for fans, but another surprising moment also caught their attention. A shocking video went viral where a clash was seen between Maxwell and Travis Head during the game. Later, Stoinis also got involved in a heated moment.
Hyderabad’s Batting Show Breaks Losing Streak
Hyderabad had lost four matches in a row, but in this match, their batting finally clicked. Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant inning of 141 runs in just 55 balls, which included 14 fours and 10 sixes. Travis Head also gave great support by scoring 66 runs in 37 balls.
Tense Moment Between Australian Players
A surprising moment was seen during the match when there was a heated exchange between Travis Head (SRH), Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis (PBKS). The incident happened on the last ball of the 9th over bowled by Maxwell. The ball was a dot, and after the ball, Maxwell threw it towards the keeper. But Head felt it was aimed at him, so he said something to Maxwell, and Maxwell replied immediately.
As the argument started growing, Stoinis stepped in and tried to calm them down. After the match, Travis Head cleared the air and said, “It was nothing serious, just a bit of fun between friends.”
Punjab Kings Set a Big Total
Batting first, Punjab Kings scored 245 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer played a great knock of 82 runs. Prabhsimran Singh (42), Priyansh Arya (36), and Marcus Stoinis (34) also played important innings. However, even this big score was not enough against Hyderabad’s powerful batting.
Captain Pat Cummins Praises Team Effort
After the win, SRH captain Pat Cummins looked happy and praised his players. He said,
“It was amazing! This is our team’s playing style. I am a big fan of Abhishek’s batting. Our batsmen have been playing well together since last year, and we trust them. Hyderabad fans are also amazing — always waving flags and making the stadium lively.”
Hyderabad’s Position in IPL 2025
With this win, SRH broke their losing streak and made a strong comeback in the tournament. Abhishek Sharma has scored 192 runs in 6 matches so far, with a strike rate of 202.11.
