The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest rankings on December 9th. The battle for the top spot in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings has become even more exciting. South African players have made a significant jump in the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings.

The 25-year-old South African left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba now has a total of 705 rating points, leaving her just 31 points behind Australia’s fast bowler and current No. 1 T20I bowler Annabel Sutherland. She has a golden opportunity to create history in the upcoming matches. India’s Deepti Sharma and Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal are both in second place, both with 732 rating points. Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Bell are in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
While Mlaba has made a significant jump to sixth place in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, four bowlers have simultaneously lost ground in the top 10. Australia’s Georgia Wareham (7th), England’s Charlie Dean (8th), West Indies’ Afy Fletcher (9th), and Pakistan’s Nasra Sandhu (10th) have each slipped one spot.

Besides Mlaba, several other South African players have also benefited from their 2-0 home lead against Ireland. All-rounder Nadine de Klerk, taking four wickets in two matches, has jumped two places in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, reaching 45th. Chloe Tryon has also jumped 12 places to 49th.

Australia’s Beth Mooney maintains her dominance in the women’s T20I batting rankings. However, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has consolidated her place in the top five with knocks of 115 not out and 22 against Ireland, leaving her just 50 rating points behind Mooney.
