New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially rescheduled the IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), originally set for April 6 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The match will now take place on April 8 due to security concerns related to the Ram Navami festival.
BCCI confirmed the change in an official statement, explaining that the Kolkata Police had requested the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) to reschedule the match. The authorities cited the heavy police deployment across the city during the festival as the reason behind the change. Accepting the request, BCCI has now rescheduled the match to April 8 at 3:30 PM IST, ensuring smooth event management.
Doubleheader on April 8, Fewer Matches on April 6
With this rescheduling, April 8 will now feature two IPL matches. The first game will see KKR and LSG clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata at 3:30 PM IST. Later in the evening, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at their home ground in New Chandigarh as part of match number 22.
Meanwhile, April 6, which was initially set to host multiple matches, will now feature only one game. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) at their home ground in Hyderabad. This match, numbered as 20 in the IPL 2025 season, will begin at 7:30 PM IST as per the original schedule.
No Venue Change for KKR vs LSG
Speculations were rife that KKR vs LSG might be shifted to Guwahati, but BCCI has clarified that the game will remain at Eden Gardens.
The IPL 2025 season has already been an exciting spectacle, and with these reschedulings, fans can expect an action-packed doubleheader on April 8. Stay tuned for further updates on the league as teams battle it out for supremacy in the world’s most-watched T20 tournament.
