The Asia Cup will take place in the UAE from 9 to 28 September. The Indian selectors will soon announce the Indian team for the Asia Cup. A big update has come about whether they will select Hardik Pandya for the tournament.

Hardik must pass a fitness test before the team is announced. Even after passing the test, the selectors can choose him for the Asia Cup. Hardik has stayed away from cricket for 2 months. He will give his fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on 11 and 12 August.

Since mid-July, Hardik has trained in Mumbai. The 31-year-old player played an important role in helping India win the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. In recent years, Pandya has proven himself as a key player for India’s limited-overs team. Now, with the Asia Cup coming soon, Hardik’s participation will be very important for India.

Before Hardik, Shreyas Iyer gave his fitness test between 27 and 29 July. Shreyas has not played a T20 International since December 2023. It will be interesting to see which players the selectors choose for the Asia Cup.

On the other hand, Team India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has not fully recovered from the sports hernia surgery he had in Munich, Germany, in June. Surya will have to spend another week at the NCA to get fully fit under the supervision of the physio and medical team.

A few days ago, Suryakumar shared a video on Instagram showing that he returned to batting practice at the NCA. In the video, he was also seen exercising and running to become fully fit. Suryakumar wrote in his post, “I am desperate to do the work I like.”
