Team India is again facing a problem ahead of India vs New Zealand series as there are multiple players who are not match fit right now. First, the surgery of Tilak Varma, and now, another key player all set to miss crucial matches of the series as per reports.

Star Indian batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. According to a report in Cricbuzz, he suffered an injury during practice at the BCA Stadium this afternoon after being hit by a ball, which was the main reason for his withdrawal. The extent of Pant’s injury has not been disclosed at this time.

A Cricbuzz report states that Rishabh Pant appeared to be in significant pain after being hit by the ball. The team physio and doctor then treated him and determined that the injury was serious enough to rule him out of the three-match series. While no official word has yet been released by the BCCI, it is expected that Pant will leave the Indian camp by this morning. It is also not yet known how long it will take for him to recover.

The ODI series against New Zealand already has a wicketkeeper in KL Rahul. However, if the selectors announce Pant’s replacement, Ishan Kishan could get a chance. Ishan has performed exceptionally well recently, earning him a recall to the Indian T20 team. His wicketkeeping skills are also impressive.

Rishabh Pant made his ODI debut for the Indian team in 2018. He played his last ODI in 2024. KL Rahul has replaced him as wicketkeeper in the Indian ODI team. Pant has so far scored 871 runs in 31 ODIs for the Indian team, including one century and five half-centuries.
