Simple Wave Electric Scooter: Simple Energy has launched its new ‘Simple Wave’ electric scooter in India. This is the company’s first family-oriented electric scooter, featuring a comfortable seat, ample storage, a long claimed range, and various smart features. Its starting price is ₹1,09,999, while the top-end ‘Wave Plus’ variant goes up to ₹1,89,999. The Simple Wave offers a claimed range of up to 243 km, 70 litres of storage space, and numerous smart features. Prices range from ₹1.09 lakh to ₹1.89 lakh.
Simple Wave Design
In terms of design, the Wave takes a more traditional, practical approach than Simple Energy’s existing scooters. It features a 920mm-long seat, offering more space for both the rider and the pillion passenger. Additionally, the spacious floorboard makes it convenient to ride while carrying daily essentials.
243 km Range
The Simple Wave is powered by a 6.4 kW electric motor. The top-end variant comes with a 5 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 243 km, one of the scooter’s standout features. However, range varies across variants; the lower variants offer 110 km to 171 km.
7-inch TFT Display
The top-spec versions of the Simple Wave come equipped with a 7-inch TFT instrument console. It supports smartphone connectivity and includes turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts, and SMS alerts.
The scooter also includes hill-hold assist and traction control. The hill-hold feature benefits riders on hilly terrain or slopes, while traction control helps manage wheel slip on slippery surfaces. It is worth noting that while these smart features are available on the top model, the lower variants come with a negative LCD display.
Safety
The Simple Wave features a suspension setup comprising telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels. For braking, it has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
The company has not limited safety features to hardware alone; the Wave also includes electronic safety features such as geo-fencing, time-fencing, theft alerts, and tow alerts. These features help monitor the scooter and mitigate the risk of theft.
Price
Regarding pricing, the company has introduced the Simple Wave in multiple variants. The entry-level ‘S’ variant starts at ₹1,09,999, while the top-end ‘Wave Plus’ variant goes up to ₹1,89,999. This pricing lets customers choose the variant that best suits their needs and budget.
