Applying for a Ration Card Online: If you wish to avail yourself of government benefits like free rations, possessing a ration card is mandatory; without one, you cannot access these facilities. However, you can certainly apply for a ration card. While the application process has become much easier, the requirements regarding documentation and verification have become quite strict.
A ration card can no longer be obtained by submitting just a single document or proof of address; six specific types of documents are now essential. To apply for a new ration card, you must submit an online application along with six key documents, including a photograph of your house. Let us explore the application process and the required documents in detail in this article.
Required Documents
To apply for a ration card, you need documents such as an Aadhaar card, proof of residence, an income certificate, a photograph of your house, and bank account details. If you do not possess these documents, you are not eligible to apply for a ration card.
Simply uploading an Aadhaar card will not suffice.
You must also submit a residence certificate, a photograph of your house, an income certificate, and the birth certificates of all family members. Additionally, a photograph and mobile number of the applicant (or the head of the household) are required; an OTP for verification will be sent to this mobile number.
How to Apply Online
The online application process for a ration card is quite straightforward. You can complete it via the e-District portal or at a nearby Common Service Center (CSC) or Jan Seva Kendra. Before applying, ensure you have scanned copies of all the necessary documents ready; this will make it easier to upload the digital copies during the application process.

Next, click on the link for the new ration card application.
Then, accurately fill in the form with details such as the head of the household’s information, address, income details, and bank account information. Next, enter the names and Aadhaar numbers of the other family members.
