Raksha Bandhan Special Train: The festival is just around the corner, and everyone wishes to spend quality time with their family. As Raksha Bandhan approaches, we anticipate a surge in train passengers, leading to seats being booked well in advance. If you’re considering heading home for the festival but are worried about the lack of available seats, we have some great news for you! The Railways has announced the operation of special trains to help people reach their homes for the celebration.

In addition to these special trains, there will also be an increase in seating capacity on regular trains.

  • Intercity Superfast Express
  • Ayodhya Cantt – Delhi Express
  • Sampoorna Kranti Superfast Express
  • Padmavat Express

These trains will be running on the following routes:

Special trains will connect Bareilly and Roorkee.

  • Train number 04319 will travel from Roorkee to Bareilly.
  • Train number 04322 will run from Bareilly to Roorkee.
  • Train number 04321 will also operate between Bareilly and Roorkee.
  • Train number 04320 will make the journey from Roorkee to Bareilly.
  • Additionally, trains will be available between Lucknow and Haridwar.
  • Train number 04330 will run from Lucknow to Haridwar.
  • Train number 04329 will operate from Haridwar to Lucknow.
  • Please note that these special trains will be in service from August 22 to August 31, 2026.

If you plan to travel on these trains, make sure to check the train schedule and status ahead of time. Seats may fill up quickly during this busy period, so it’s wise to book your tickets early. Expect busier stations than usual, so aim to arrive a bit earlier. Lastly, remember that larger crowds can increase the risk of losing valuables, so keep a close eye on your belongings.

All major trains arriving from Mumbai, Delhi, and other cities have long waiting lists. This could create difficulties for brothers and sisters studying or working away from home in reaching home for the festival. Pallavi from Kidganj is waiting for her brother Mayank, but there are no confirmed berths available on any train arriving from Ludhiana before the festival. Amit Srivastava, who works in Gurugram, is similarly in the same situation. He too has to travel to Prayagraj for the festival. The situation appears to be most difficult on August 26th and 27th, just before Raksha Bandhan.

The waiting list for the chair car of both Vande Bharat Express trains from New Delhi to Prayagraj has surpassed 100. The situation is similar for the Prayagraj Express and the Shivganga Express, both considered VIP trains. While the Shivganga Express has no room available in the AC economy class, there are long waiting lists for the sleeper and AC classes.
