PM Surya Ghar Yojana: The government’s initiative to provide free electricity through the PM Surya Ghar scheme is proving to be highly beneficial for the general public. Individuals who were struggling with high electricity costs now have a long-term solution. Recent data indicates that over 5.582 million households nationwide have implemented rooftop solar power systems under this program, resulting in significantly reduced electricity bills. Notably, around 1.177 million families in Gujarat have taken advantage of this scheme.
During a public event in Vadodara, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant advantages of the program. He commended the rapid expansion of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, emphasizing that 5.5 million families have embraced a new beginning by installing solar power units on their rooftops. PM Modi underscored that individuals are no longer solely consumers of electricity but are also contributing to energy production. The transformation of 1.1 million households in Gujarat into energy producers is indeed a remarkable achievement.
The scheme not only aims to reduce electricity bills but also plays a crucial role in boosting the country’s economy. It has led to the creation of various job opportunities, from manufacturing solar panels to their installation on rooftops, consequently triggering growth in the service sector. Prime Minister Modi noted that this initiative has opened up numerous employment prospects for the youth, fostering the emergence of new vendors in the market and promoting self-employment.
Gujarat stands out as a shining example with over 833,000 successful solar installations in the state, generating about 3,123 megawatts of electricity. The government has allocated Rs 6,030 crore in subsidies directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, demonstrating the scheme’s effectiveness.
