PM Kisan Yojana: Crores of farmers across the country are benefiting from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The central government runs several schemes for farmers. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually, transferred directly to their bank accounts in three equal installments. So far, over ₹4.47 lakh crore has been transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) across 23 installments. The central government is now set to release the 24th installment, which could be paid out before Diwali.
If you are also awaiting the next installment, this information could prove crucial for you. According to new central government rules, many farmers will not receive the scheme’s benefits. Owning land in one’s name alone does not guarantee receipt of PM Kisan funds; factors such as the farmer’s employment, income, and family status are also considered. If funds are received based on incorrect information, they may be recovered later.

Farmers who will not receive the benefit:
1. More than one family member as a beneficiary
Multiple members of the same farming family cannot avail PM-KISAN benefits. This simply means that only one person—either the father or the son—will be considered eligible for the scheme.
2. No cultivable land of one’s own
PM-KISAN benefits are granted to eligible farming families based on cultivable land ownership; those who do not possess cultivable land in their own name do not qualify for the scheme.
3. e-KYC not completed
If you have not yet completed your e-KYC, the installment payment could be stalled. Farmers whose land verification process is incomplete may also face difficulties in receiving the installment.
4. Income tax payers
If any member of the farming family has paid income tax in the previous assessment year, the family will not be eligible for PM-KISAN benefits.
5. Professionals
Certain categories of professionals are also excluded from PM-KISAN eligibility. These include professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and architects.
Will the 24th installment be released in October?
According to the rules of the PM Kisan Yojana, installments are released at four-month intervals. Based on media reports and trends from previous years, it is highly likely that the government could release the 24th installment towards the end of October or the beginning of November—that is, before Diwali.
However, the government has not yet made any announcement regarding the 24th installment. Therefore, you are advised to steer clear of rumors.
