In response, PhonePe has introduced the UPI 123Pay service, enabling feature phone users to engage in money transfers without internet connectivity. Let’s delve into the details of this service and its functionalities.

What is UPI 123Pay?

PhonePe’s UPI 123Pay service facilitates digital payments for feature phone users, who are unable to utilize the internet or modern apps on their devices. It permits users to conduct cashless transactions without requiring an internet connection, thereby streamlining the payment process for feature phone users.

The UPI 123Pay service by PhonePe functions independently of the internet, eliminating the necessity for an online connection. Users can execute UPI transactions on feature phones by utilizing their mobile number or UPI ID. Additionally, users can check their bank account balance and view transaction histories.

Moreover, PhonePe is planning to incorporate features such as bill payments, mobile recharges, and Aadhaar-based UPI registration into this service in the future.

Which phones will support this feature?

To ensure widespread accessibility, PhonePe is collaborating with feature phone brands like Nokia, HMD, Lava, and itel to offer this service. Furthermore, this feature may become available on other feature phone brands in the future.

How to enroll in the service?

To activate UPI on a feature phone, users need to access PhonePe’s 123UPI service, select their bank, input debit card details, and set a UPI PIN.

Upon successful registration, feature phone users can conduct UPI transactions without internet connectivity, enabling individuals without smartphones or internet access to partake in digital payments effortlessly.
