No PUC, No Petrol:- If you travel by car daily, there is important news for you. If you reside in the NCR region of Haryana and commute by vehicle, please read this update immediately. Your vehicle’s valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate may now be checked before refuelling with petrol, diesel, or CNG. The Haryana Transport Department has instructed petrol pumps in the NCR region not to refuel vehicles that lack a valid PUC.
This measure is being implemented under the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule, which came into effect in Delhi-NCR on October 1. Initially, pump attendants will manually verify the PUC, while later, vehicle details will be verified against the online PUC database using number-plate recognition cameras. Let us find out which vehicles will be denied fuel.
Which vehicles will be denied fuel?
Vehicles without a valid PUC may be refused petrol, diesel, or CNG. Before refuelling, petrol pump attendants will verify the PUC’s validity using the vehicle’s registration number. The vehicle’s number can be checked against the online PUC database via the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera system.
Until the camera system becomes fully operational everywhere, PUC verification will be conducted manually. Additionally, if a vehicle lacks a valid PUC, its registration number may be recorded.
The rule will apply in these 14 districts of Haryana:
Gurugram
Faridabad
Sonipat
Panipat
Rohtak
Jhajjar
Rewari
Palwal
Nuh
Mahendragarh
Bhiwani
Charkhi Dadri
Jind
Karnal
What should you do if you don’t have a PUC?
If you do not possess a valid PUC, you may be refused fuel at petrol pumps. Therefore, you should obtain a pollution certificate from your nearest authorised PUC testing centre. Under applicable motor vehicle regulations, a fine of up to ₹10,000 can be imposed on you for driving a vehicle without a valid PUC.
Fine of up to ₹10,000
Ensure you have a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate to avoid e-challans and punitive action. Driving a vehicle without a valid PUC certificate can attract a fine of up to ₹10,000 under applicable motor vehicle regulations.
