New Toyota 7-Seater: Toyota’s large SUVs and MPVs have long established a distinct identity in the Indian market. From the Qualis to the Innova and Fortuner, the company’s three-row models have received a positive response from buyers. Now, Toyota is working on another 7-seater electric SUV that will differ significantly from existing models. This upcoming model is expected to be based on Maruti Suzuki’s three-row electric model, codenamed YMC. Toyota’s new 7-seater electric SUV could be based on Maruti’s upcoming YMC model; it is expected to feature a 61 kWh battery, premium features, and a three-row cabin.
What the New Toyota 7-Seater EV
The new Toyota 7-seater could be positioned between the Urban Cruiser Hyder and the Innova in the company’s lineup. Most notably, the vehicle could be Toyota’s first three-row electric SUV in India.
It is reported to be linked to Maruti’s upcoming YMC model. Much like the platform and components shared between the Toyota eBella and Maruti e-Vitara, this new Toyota EV is likely to adopt significant technology from Maruti’s upcoming model.
Design
Regarding its design, the final exterior of the new Toyota 7-seater has not yet been revealed, but its dimensions and basic structure are expected to resemble those of Maruti’s upcoming YMC model.
Toyota may incorporate its signature styling elements into the front and rear designs. Meanwhile, large wheels, a robust SUV stance, and modern lighting could give it a premium look.
Premium Features
The interior of this upcoming Toyota EV could be one of its major highlights. The company might borrow several features from the eBella. Notably, a twin-screen setup—comprising a digital driver display and a large central touchscreen—is likely to be included.
Additionally, features such as powered and ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, a sunroof, and a JBL sound system are expected. The safety package may also include 7 airbags and hill-hold control. 61kWh Battery and Range
Regarding the powertrain, the new Toyota 7-seater EV is expected to feature a battery pack of approximately 61 kWh. The Toyota eBella may also use this same battery.
The eBella claims a range of around 543 km with this battery. However, the range of the three-row Toyota EV might be slightly lower due to its larger size and heavier weight.
ADAS and Safety Features
In terms of safety, Toyota is likely to equip its upcoming electric SUV with modern technology. It is expected to feature Level 2 ADAS, incorporating technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane assistance, and emergency safety functions.
Additionally, features like a 360-degree camera, seven airbags, and hill-hold control may be included. As it is a three-row SUV, safety and visibility features will be especially important.
Launch and Price
Toyota has not yet announced the official launch date for this new 7-seater electric SUV. According to reports, it is expected to arrive in India around mid-to-late 2027. Its price could range from approximately ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
