Motorola has launched another premium smartphone, and this time it’s packed with some impressive specs. The phone is the latest iteration of the Signature series, following the release of the original Signature in January. The company has said it will be its most ambitious phone yet. While the battery will steal the limelight with its huge 7000mAh capacity, it’s the price tag that many are talking about.

The Motorola Signature 27 will start at $1,599 in the US, which is around £1,299 and €1,899 in the UK and Europe respectively. However, some European retailers are listing it for €1,399. The phone will be available for preorder from November 19 with general availability from November 26 in the US. In Europe, Middle East and Africa the phone will be available from November 16. We do not have any information on the price in India, so I’ll be making an estimation for those in Rupees.

Battery & Charging

While the battery is significantly bigger than the 5200mAh found in the original model, with a capacity of 7000mAh thanks to the use of silicon-carbon. This means it has a capacity of around 35% higher than the original. The phone also supports fast charging via wired with 90W and 50W for wireless. Reverse wireless charging is supported too, delivering 5W, along with 4.5W for wired reverse charging. The phone is claimed to support up to 77 hours of battery life, however this is a marketing claim and will depend on your usage.

Specs

Motorola has equipped the phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip (Announced in September). The phone has either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, alongside 256GB or 512GB of storage depending on the region. The display will be a tandem AMOLED screen with a max brightness of 12,000 nits, making it easy to see outside. The phone also has a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, and Motorola has added a dedicated EVS action sensor.

It also has MIL-STD-810H compliance. The phone weighs around 227g and is fairly hefty. The phone will run with Android 17, and Motorola promises 7 major OS updates, meaning it’s one of the longest support periods in the industry.

Should you buy?

This is definitely a phone for people who want the best specs. It’s significantly more expensive than most competitors, coming in at $1,599. There is quite a split on the features offered. While the battery, screen and long software support are all great features, the price is going to be daunting. In India it would be best to wait for the official announcement from Motorola, as there may be a very different price and offers.
