
Punjab Scheme 2026: Both the central and state governments are running numerous schemes to empower women. Currently, the Punjab government is extending benefits to women through a special initiative. Under this scheme, the government deposits money directly into women’s bank accounts, thereby enabling them to become self-reliant. We are referring to the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’; approximately 7.5 million (75 lakh) women have already registered for this scheme. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Sunday that the government has transferred ₹3,824.87 crore to the accounts of these women so far.
What is this scheme?
The Punjab government runs the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’. Women over the age of 18 are eligible to apply. Upon registration, women receive monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000. Women belonging to Scheduled Castes receive an amount of ₹1,500. According to government data, 97 per cent of women are eligible to benefit from this scheme.

The primary objective of this Punjab government scheme is to enhance the dignity and self-reliance of women. According to the government, the funds received under the scheme enable women to lead a dignified and empowered life within their families and society.
Benefits for millions of women
The government’s direct aim is to extend the benefits of this scheme to millions of women. The Chief Minister stated that any eligible woman can easily avail herself of the scheme’s benefits. He further assured that as long as he holds the office of Chief Minister, no woman will be deprived of the benefits of this scheme.
How to apply for the scheme
If you are a resident of Punjab, you can easily avail yourself of the benefits of this scheme. To apply for this scheme, you need to register by visiting a nearby Anganwadi centre or CSC centre. The Punjab e-Seva portal has been launched for this purpose, allowing you to apply easily.
Documents Required for the Scheme
To avail the benefits of the scheme, certain documents are required. These include an Aadhaar card, Punjab voter ID card, bank passbook, caste certificate, passport-sized photograph, etc. Additionally, the applicant must be over 18 years of age and a registered voter in Punjab. Failure to meet these criteria will render the woman ineligible for the scheme.
