Maruti Baleno Facelift 2026: The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has long maintained a distinct identity in the premium hatchback segment. Now, the company is preparing to introduce a significantly updated version to the market. This upcoming Baleno will feature a fresh look, robust features, and advanced safety technology.
It is expected to launch in India on September 5, 2026. Notably, this marks the first major update since the arrival of the current second-generation Baleno over four years ago. The changes will go beyond aesthetics, extending to features, the engine, and the CNG model. Let’s take a look at what makes this vehicle special.
Launch Date
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch this updated hatchback in India on September 5, 2026. This launch is significant as it represents the first major overhaul since the second-generation model’s debut. The company plans to implement changes across the board, from the exterior design to the powertrain.

Engine and CNG-AMT
The most interesting change is likely to be in the engine department. Maruti may replace the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with the three-cylinder Z-series engine found in the new Dzire and Swift. However, the real game-changer is the introduction of an AMT gearbox in the CNG version. For the first time, Maruti will offer a combination of a factory-fitted CNG system and AMT transmission, likely available in the Delta and Zeta variants. A five-speed manual transmission will also remain available.
Exterior
The most significant changes are expected in the front profile. The new grille may feature a horizontal chrome element connecting the headlamps—much like a stylish headband gives a face a fresh look. While the existing boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) are expected to be retained, the bumper will sport a fresh new design. The side profile will feature new alloy wheels, and the rear might get a new bumper; however, the tail-lamp design, roof spoiler, and rear wiper will remain unchanged.

Cabin and Features
The cabin layout will largely remain the same, featuring a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, trapezoidal AC vents, and a three-spoke steering wheel. However, Maruti aims to give it a fresh look with new upholstery, a dual-tone interior theme, and ambient lighting. A single-pane sunroof could also be added to the list of features.
Ventilated front seats—a boon during the summer—might be introduced in the Baleno for the first time. And the biggest news: an ADAS package could become the hatchback’s headline feature. If confirmed, advanced safety technologies like forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-assist systems could set a new benchmark in this segment.
Variants and Price
No major changes are expected in the variant lineup, though the addition of an AMT option for the CNG version could alter the positioning of mid-spec variants. Pricing is likely to increase slightly over the current model. Upon launch, the updated Baleno will directly compete with cars like the Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, and Hyundai i20.
