Mahindra XUV 3XO: A new variant of the Mahindra XUV 3XO is on the horizon. The company is preparing to add a CNG powertrain to this compact SUV. According to media reports, the Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG is set to launch on October 15, 2026. With this addition, XUV 3XO buyers will have four distinct powertrain options: petrol, diesel, electric, and CNG. Let’s take a look at the details.

1.2-litre Turbo Petrol Engine

Regarding the engine, Mahindra is likely to use the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine for the XUV 3XO CNG. This engine features Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPFI) technology, making it well-suited for a CNG setup.

In its petrol configuration, this engine delivers approximately 111 hp of power. However, specific details regarding its power and torque output when running on CNG have not yet been revealed. As for the transmission, the XUV 3XO CNG is expected to come with a manual gearbox. Mahindra may disclose full details regarding the transmission and other mechanical specifications at the time of launch.

Boot Space

As you may know, for CNG SUV buyers, boot space is just as important as fuel efficiency. The XUV 3XO’s boot is not particularly large to begin with, and installing a CNG tank could further reduce the available luggage space.

If the tank is packaged smartly, however, buyers could enjoy the daily practicality of the vehicle alongside the lower running costs associated with CNG.

Competition

The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG will compete against models like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG and Tata Nexon CNG. Against these rivals, the XUV 3XO CNG’s greatest strengths could be its SUV-focused design and Mahindra’s overall product package.

Price

Mahindra has not yet revealed the price of the XUV 3XO CNG. However, it is expected to be priced approximately ₹1 lakh higher than the equivalent petrol variant. This can be a premium car because of CNG technology and a factory-fitted setup.
