Maruti Alto K10 sales up by 106% Why is it the fastest growing car in the Indian market?

Growth is usually slow in the entry-level segment, but Alto has broken that perception. Total sales of Maruti Suzuki's mini segment (Alto and S-Presso) increased by 78% to 11,416 units.

There are several reasons for this growth. First, the government has cut GST on entry-level cars, bringing the price of the Alto down to ₹3.70 lakh. On the other hand, Maruti has added several new features to the Alto K10 that make it more attractive than before.

The third position was held by the Maruti Dzire with 17,899 units, though its growth was just 16%.

At number four was the Maruti WagonR with 16,952 units, registering a growth of 31%. In fifth position was the Maruti Ertiga with 16,111 units, a growth of 14%.

At number six was the Maruti Swift with 15,215 units, an increase of 15%. In the seventh position was the Mahindra Scorpio with 14,097 units, registering a growth of 11%. At number eight was the Maruti Fronx with 13,135 units showing a growth of 34%.

In the ninth position was the Maruti Baleno with 12,488 units, a growth of 39%. At number ten was the Hyundai Venue with 10,776 units, registering a sharp increase of 57%.

The 11th position was held by Mahindra Thar with 10,669 units, while the 12th position was held by Maruti Alto with 10,388 units, registering the highest YoY growth of 106%. At the 13th position was the Maruti Eeco with 10,230 units, while at the 14th position was the Mahindra XUV 3X with 0.10, 063 units, showing a growth of 42%.

At number 15 was the Kia Seltos with 9,654 units, an impressive growth of 85%. At the 16th spot was the Maruti Vitara with 9,092 units, followed by the Mahindra Bolero at 17th with 9,115 units and the Toyota Highrider at 18th with 9,104 units. Both recorded a growth of 22%.

The Alto K10 is based on the company's updated HearTect platform. The hatchback is powered by a new-gen K-series 1.0 L Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine that produces 66.62 PS of power and 89Nm of torque.

The company claims a mileage of 24.90 km / l for the automatic variant and 24.39 km / l for the manual variant, while the CNG variant returns a mileage of 33.85 km / kg.

The interior features a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as USB, Bluetooth, and AUX cables. Controls for the infotainment system are mounted on the steering wheel.

Other features include digital instrument cluster, speed sensing auto door lock and high-speed alert.

In terms of safety, Maruti has significantly upgraded the Alto K10. Now 6 airbags have been made standard, which is a big thing in this segment car. It also gets ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensor, speed alert system and driver and co-driver seat belt reminder. The car also comes with safety features like speed-sensing auto door lock and high-speed alert.

The Alto K10 is available in 6 colour options: Speedy Blue, Earthy Gold, Sizzling Red, Silky White, Solid White and Granite Grey.

The Alto K is available in 10.8 variants. The base variant STD (O) is priced at ₹3,69,900, while the LXi (O) MT is available for ₹3,99,900. VXi (O) MT is priced at ₹4,49,900 and LXi (O) CNG is available for ₹4,81,900.

The VXi (O) AGS is priced at ₹4,94,900, VXi + (O) MT at ₹4,99,900, VXi (O) CNG at ₹5,31,900 and the top-end VXi + (O) AGS at ₹5,44,900. The on-road price varies according to the city- In Delhi, it starts at around ₹4.15 lakh.
