Mahindra XEV 9S 6-Seater: Mahindra’s presence in the electric SUV segment continues to grow, and the company has now addressed a major customer demand by adding a new option to its popular XEV 9S lineup. Previously available only as a 7-seater, the vehicle is now offered in a 6-seater version. A key highlight is the inclusion of captain seats in the second row, making long family journeys even more comfortable.

The new 6-seater version of the Mahindra XEV 9S has launched in the Indian market; it features a more premium seating layout and offers up to 679 km of range, making it an excellent choice for larger families.

Mahindra XEV 9S 6-Seater Price

The 6-seater variant of the Mahindra XEV 9S starts at ₹25.25 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the entry-level price, and costs increase with the variant. The ‘Pack 2 Above’ variant, equipped with a 79kWh battery pack, is priced at ₹26.15 lakh, while the ‘Pack 3′ variant with a 70kWh battery is available for ₹28.05 lakh. The top-end variant—’Pack 3 Above’ with the 79kWh battery—is priced at ₹30.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XEV 9S 6-Seater Cabin

If you assume the entire cabin has been overhauled for the 6-seater version, that is not the case. Mahindra has modified only the second-row seating; the rest of the cabin design remains unchanged. The new captain seats feature individual armrests that can be flipped up when needed, creating more space to access the third row. Additionally, features such as rear AC vents and dual 65W charging ports have been retained from the 7-seater variant.

Battery Pack and Range

Now, let’s discuss the most crucial aspects: the battery and the range. The 6-seater Mahindra XEV 9S is available in all variants except the entry-level ‘Pack One Above’. It offers two battery options: 70kWh and 79kWh. All variants feature a single rear-mounted electric motor; the top variant produces 286 hp and 380 Nm of torque, while the lower variants produce 245 hp.

In terms of range, the vehicle offers a claimed range of 600 km with the 70kWh battery pack, which increases to 679 km with the larger 79kWh pack. This impressive range significantly reduces the anxiety of constantly searching for charging points during long-distance journeys.

Competition

Until now, the Kia Carens Clavis EV was the only vehicle in this segment available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, giving Kia a distinct advantage. However, Mahindra has now bridged this gap by introducing the XEV 9S in both variants. This move shows how closely the company understands its customers’ evolving needs.
