Mahindra Vision S SUV: Mahindra’s new compact SUV is set to create a buzz in the market. The company’s ‘Vision S’ concept has once again been spotted undergoing road tests in India. Mahindra is developing this new SUV on its new NU_IQ architecture. It is expected to feature a robust, boxy design and offer ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), hybrid, and EV powertrain options. Notably, while its length is expected to remain under 4 meters, the design will likely showcase the bold, upright stance characteristic of Mahindra SUVs. Let’s delve into the details.
Mahindra Vision S SUV Design
Starting with the design, spy shots show an upright, high-set front profile. Key visual elements include a tall bonnet, squared-off proportions, and a multi-slot vertical grille. Although the vehicle is heavily camouflaged, its overall silhouette is easily recognisable.
The front end appears to feature projector-style headlamps and camera hardware, suggesting that the company is incorporating safety and driver-assistance features into the vehicle.

Mahindra Vision S SUV Rear Design
The rear design further reinforces the SUV’s identity. The test mule features a full-size spare wheel mounted on the tailgate, lending it the rugged, traditional look of a Mahindra SUV. The rear window is positioned almost vertically, flanked by slim, vertical tail lamps. Additionally, the squared-off tailgate and short rear overhang give it the appearance of a compact yet tall SUV.
Mahindra Vision S SUV NU_IQ Platform
The Mahindra Vision S will be built on the company’s new NU_IQ architecture. The platform was developed specifically for compact SUVs, with flexibility as its standout feature. Most interestingly, the NU_IQ platform is not limited to petrol or diesel engines; it can support hybrid and electric powertrains alongside internal combustion engines.

Mahindra Vision S SUV: Diesel Engine and Manual Gearbox
Regarding the engine, the company may test a diesel engine and manual gearbox combination for this vehicle. Mahindra is also expected to use powertrains already in its compact SUV portfolio.
Certain mechanical components and powertrain options for the new SUV could be sourced from existing compact SUV models. Given the capabilities of the NU_IQ platform, Mahindra could also introduce hybrid and electric versions in the future.
