Mahindra’s Upcoming Diesel SUVs: Mahindra is working on several new models at once, and diesel engines still have a place in its portfolio. The company is expected to introduce four new diesel SUVs soon. These include the facelift of the popular 3-door Thar, the new Vision S, the Scorpio Classic facelift, and the Scorpio Lifestyler. While some of these models will retain existing engines, significant design and feature changes are expected.
Mahindra may launch four new diesel SUVs soon, including models like the Thar facelift and the Vision S. These SUVs are expected to feature fresh designs, modern amenities, and powerful diesel engines.
Thar Facelift
The 3-door Thar, one of Mahindra’s most popular SUVs, is expected to receive a facelift update soon. The new Thar will sport a more modern look. Up front, it may feature a new grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and updated styling. New taillights and alloy wheels are also expected at the rear.

The cabin may also get new features; expectations include a digital driver display, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, and ADAS. Major mechanical changes are unlikely. The existing 1.5-litre and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines, along with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, are expected to be retained. The Thar facelift is likely to be introduced around this year’s festive season.
Vision S
Mahindra’s new Vision S compact SUV is also set to arrive with a diesel engine option. This SUV will be built on the company’s NU_IQ platform. During testing, a separate AdBlue filler cap was spotted, clearly indicating a diesel engine.
According to reports, the Vision S might utilise the 1.5-litre diesel engine found in the XUV 3XO. The current setup delivers approximately 117bhp of power and 300Nm of torque, though the engine tuning and output for the Vision S could differ. This SUV is expected to offer both manual and automatic gearbox options.
In addition to the diesel variant, it may also offer a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine option. It is expected to come with a panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. The Vision S could enter the Indian market next year.
Scorpio Classic Facelift
The Scorpio Classic is also expected to receive a facelift update in the near future. However, instead of altering its identity, the company might retain the existing design. One might see minor updates rather than major exterior changes.
Features such as a new alloy wheel design and an electric sunroof are expected. This will preserve the Scorpio Classic’s rugged, traditional appeal while enhancing its feature set.

No major changes are expected in its mechanical setup either; the SUV is likely to retain the current 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engine. This engine delivers about 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque and is offered with a manual gearbox.
Scorpio Lifestyler
Mahindra’s fourth upcoming diesel SUV will be the Scorpio Lifestyler. This lifestyle pickup truck is being developed on the Scorpio N’s ladder-frame platform. Its production model is reportedly nearing completion, and it is expected to hit the market before April 2027.
This pickup is expected to feature a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, with a petrol option potentially available. To cater to diverse buyer needs, it may be made available with both 2WD and 4×4 drivetrain options.
