New Mahindra Thar Facelift: In the Indian SUV market, there are certain names that generate buzz among enthusiasts at even the slightest hint of an update. The Mahindra Thar is one such SUV. Its facelift model has been undergoing continuous testing for some time, and a newly surfaced spy shot has further heightened anticipation regarding its launch. This time, the new Thar is making headlines for its alloy wheels and design elements inspired by the Thar Roxx.
It is speculated that Mahindra might launch it on August 14, 2026. The Mahindra Thar Facelift has once again been spotted during testing, fueling hopes for an imminent launch. Let’s delve into the details regarding its new design, features, engine, and launch timeline.
New Design
The most significant change in the new Mahindra Thar Facelift’s design is likely to be its front profile. Spy shots suggest it will incorporate several design elements reminiscent of the Thar Roxx.
The front may feature new round LED projector headlamps accompanied by C-shaped LED DRLs. Additionally, the new grille could resemble the one on the Roxx. The front bumper is also expected to sport a new design, potentially featuring LED fog lamps with cornering functionality.
At the rear, a new LED taillight signature and an updated bumper will distinguish it from the current model. Overall, the new Thar is set to look more premium and modern than before.

New Alloy Wheels
The new alloy wheels have drawn the most attention in the latest spy shots. While Mahindra has retained its signature five-spoke design, the wheels now feature a dual-tone finish and a more muscular aesthetic.
The wheel design appears more premium than the previous version. They are believed to be 18-inch alloy wheels, although some reports suggest 19-inch wheels.
Interior
Mahindra isn’t stopping at just the exterior design. The cabin of the new Thar Facelift is also expected to feature significant updates. It is likely to come equipped with modern amenities such as a 10.25-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, an auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats, and automatic climate control. Additionally, a Harman Kardon audio system might be included.

ADAS
A front-facing camera was spotted during recent testing, sparking speculation that Mahindra might introduce safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) in the Thar Facelift.
If implemented, this would be one of the most significant updates for the Thar. The inclusion of ADAS could make highway driving safer and more comfortable. Furthermore, this new camera technology would strengthen the Thar’s position in its segment.
Engine
While the design and features of the new Mahindra Thar Facelift may be new, major changes to the engine lineup are not expected. It is likely to retain the existing engine options: the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. The larger engines are expected to be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Launch
Mahindra launched the Thar in 2020 and the Thar Roxx in 2024 during the ‘Freedom Drive’ on Independence Day. Consequently, speculation is mounting that the new Thar Facelift could also be unveiled on August 14, 2026.
