LPG Cylinder Booking Rules: 45-Day Waiting Period Abolished, Get Cylinder Within 25 Days

LPG Booking Rules: Good news is here. The central government has taken a significant step for domestic LPG customers nationwide by introducing a new 25-day window for booking gas cylinder refills in both rural and urban regions. The announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi.

Key points of the new rule:

– All domestic LPG customers are now required to wait at least 25 days before booking a second cylinder after booking one.
– Previously, this regulation only applied to urban areas, with a 45-day gap for rural areas. This distinction between rural and urban areas has now been eliminated.

The Petroleum Ministry issued a directive to major oil marketing companies (OMCs) – IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL on September 7 to implement this change immediately. This decision comes after LPG supplies were impacted by tensions in the Middle East, leading to a temporary 45-day period in rural areas to manage demand and prevent black market activities.

With the LPG supply situation in the country showing significant improvement and backlog nearly cleared, the regulations have been eased.

Benefits for rural consumers:

– Minister of State Suresh Gopi shared this update on his official Facebook page.
– This change will directly benefit millions of families, particularly in rural regions, who previously faced shortages due to the lengthy 45-day wait for cooking gas.
– The uniform 25-day interval for booking LPG cylinders nationwide will make it easier for citizens to plan their refills.

What did the Union Minister say?

Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi announced this on Monday, according to a Hindustan Times report. He said that in view of the improved availability of LPG, the government has removed the additional restrictions imposed on rural consumers. It should be noted that because of the Hormuz blockade and gas shortages, rules were made to allow booking gas again only after 45 days, which caused a lot of trouble for the general public. However, now that the rules have been changed once again, it will provide relief to the public, especially to those who need more gas at home.
