This will be an excellent employment opportunity for former Agniveers after their retirement. Age relaxation has also been provided. The opposition has also been demanding for a long time that the government take steps to secure the future of Agniveers.

    Under the new recruitment system, the age limit for general candidates is 18 to 23 years. Special age relaxation has been given to former Agniveers. Former Agniveers from the first batch will get a maximum age relaxation of 5 years, and those from subsequent batches will get a 3-year age relaxation. This will also significantly reduce the difficulties in recruitment for young people who have completed their Agniveer service. Reservation also decided for these categories.

    According to the notification from the Union Home Ministry, 50 per cent of the seats in the BSF constable recruitment are reserved for former Agniveers, while 1 per cent are reserved for ex-servicemen.
