Key benefits and financial assistance of the scheme

Under the scheme, the government invests Rs 56,000 to Rs 61,000 in installments from the birth of a daughter until she completes her graduation or diploma. This amount, including interest, increases to over Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh upon successful completion of education and attainment of the age of 18 or 21. To eliminate corruption and a lack of transparency, all payments are transferred digitally directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. Orphaned daughters living in child care institutions also benefit from this scheme.

The primary goal of the scheme is to support girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing education, discouraging child marriage, and fostering self-reliance. This initiative is a significant step by the Delhi government towards promoting girls’ education and empowering women.
