Kia Sorento Hybrid & Diesel: The launch of the Kia Sorento has created quite a stir in the Indian market. With a starting price of ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this SUV is poised to challenge vehicles like the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. A total of 32 configurations are available across various variants, engines, and seating options. So, which variant is the right choice for you? The Kia Sorento starts at ₹27.99 lakh and is available in both diesel and hybrid options. Let’s explore the features, pricing, safety, and seating options of the HTE, HTK, and HTX variants.
Kia Sorento HTE
While the Sorento HTE is the base variant, its feature list suggests otherwise. It is available in a 7-seater configuration with both diesel and hybrid powertrain options. It comes equipped with multi-reflector LED headlamps, dynamic turn indicators, and 18-inch alloy wheels, giving the SUV a premium look right from the entry-level trim.
Inside, it features a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. A wireless smartphone charger and dual-zone automatic climate control are standard. The driver’s seat offers 10-way power adjustment with lumbar support, and the vehicle includes paddle shifters. The HTE variant also excels in safety, featuring a reverse camera, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and seven airbags.

Kia Sorento HTK
Moving on to the second variant, the HTK—priced from ₹32.49 lakh (ex-showroom)—further elevates the Sorento’s premium appeal. It comes equipped with projector LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The instrument cluster has also been upgraded to a 12.3-inch HD digital unit. The cabin features a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, a dial-type gear selector, and 64-colour ambient lighting.
Safety features include a 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor, side parking sensors, and LED fog lamps. A 6-seater layout option is also available, including individual captain seats in the second row for more space for rear passengers.
An ADAS package worth ₹1 lakh is also available with the HTK variant. It includes 21 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, such as Front Collision-Avoidance Assist (Direct Oncoming and Junction Turning), Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.

Kia Sorento HTX
Let’s now discuss the third variant, the HTX, which starts at ₹37.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with an AWD system and three terrain modes—Snow, Mud, and Sand—allowing the SUV to adapt to various locations and driving conditions.
The HTX variant also offers features like Digital Key 2.0, Remote Smart Parking Assist, satellite navigation, AI voice commands, and a 220-volt power outlet. These small yet practical features prove very useful in daily use, especially during long journeys.
The front row features 10-way power-adjustable ‘Relaxation Seats.’ The driver’s seat includes an ‘Ergo’ function designed to provide massage-like comfort. The second row offers ventilation, while the 6-seater model comes with wing-type headrests.
Safety features include a Head-Up Display, a digital IRVM, and 10 airbags. Additionally, a ₹1 lakh ADAS package adds seven advanced systems. These include collision avoidance features such as Junction Crossing, Lane Change Oncoming, Lane Change Side, and Evasive Steering. The ‘Zone’ and ‘Curve’ functions of Highway Driving Assist and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control are also part of this package.
