The state government will soon begin a major teacher recruitment process for 4,512 aided secondary schools across the state. This campaign will fill over 23,000 positions, including TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher), PGT (Post Graduate Teacher), headmaster, and principal positions. News reports have surfaced about these new government jobs in Uttar Pradesh. We’ll share the details of this update.

According to media reports, the Directorate of Education has received information on 22,201 vacant positions from 71 districts across the state, with reports from four more districts expected to reach over 23,000.

The recruitment process will be conducted through the UPESSC.

All these recruitments will be conducted through the Uttar Pradesh Extraordinary and Special Selection Commission (UPESSC). The Commission requested details of vacant positions from all districts on July 29th. The Directorate of Education has directed that each district should investigate all vacancies except those reserved for transfer and submit a report.

The final report for these positions will be submitted to the Commission by March 31, 2026, after which the recruitment process will formally begin.

Emphasis on Transparency in the Recruitment Process

The Directorate of Education has clarified that transparency will be a top priority in the recruitment process. The Deputy Director of Education has instructed all districts to ensure that the vacancy information submitted is accurate and up-to-date. The reports received from all districts will be uploaded to the UPESSC online portal so that applicants have access to complete information in one place.

Jobs of B.Ed. Teachers Face Crisis

While preparations for new recruitment are in full swing, over 30,000 B.Ed.-holding primary teachers in the state are uncertain about their jobs.

According to a Supreme Court order, B.Ed.-holding teachers appointed before August 11, 2023, are required to complete a “bridge course” within one year. This course will be conducted by NIOS and may begin on December 1, 2025.

The NCTE approved this course on July 2, 2025, but the Basic Education Department has not yet issued an official notification. If teachers do not complete the course within the stipulated timeframe, their appointments will be considered cancelled.

The Government’s Double Challenge

The state government faces the challenge of completing the process of 23,000 new appointments on time, while simultaneously grappling with the challenge of regularising existing B.Ed.-holding teachers.
