Bihar SI & Constable Recruitment 2025. Long-stalled recruitment processes in Bihar’s police and other departments are set to accelerate after the elections. Examinations for approximately 25,847 vacancies are underway in various phases by the Central Selection Board (CSBC) and the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC). The largest number of these is for police constable recruitment, with 19,838 positions to be filled. According to officials, preparations have begun to complete all pending examinations and interviews on schedule.

The state’s assembly elections have concluded, which will accelerate the recruitment process in several departments. This includes the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) examination for approximately 25,847 vacancies.

Constable Recruitment: PET for 19,838 Posts to Begin in December
Notifications for 19,838 constable posts were issued in March 2025. Out of over 16.73 lakh applications, approximately 13.30 lakh candidates appeared for the written examination. After the six-stage written examination, 99,690 candidates were selected for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET is scheduled to begin in December. Its dates and exam centre will be published soon on the CSBC’s official website.
Document verification will also take place during the Physical Efficiency Test, and no separate time will be allotted for it. Passing the PET is mandatory for candidates.
Ward Keeper, Transport Constable, and Prohibition Constable: Scrutiny of applications for 4,128 posts underway
Online applications were accepted from October 6th to November 5th for a total of 4,128 posts of Ward Keeper, Prohibition Constable, and Mobile Squad Constable in the Transport Department.
Scrutiny of applications is currently underway.
Candidates scoring 30% or more in the written examination will be called for PET, a number five times the number of posts. While the final merit for warder posts in the ex-servicemen and home guard quota will be based solely on the written examination, for the general warder, prohibition constable, and transport constable recruitment, the written examination will be qualifying in nature, and PET and document verification will be the basis for final selection.

1799 SI posts: Exam schedule soon
Applications for 1799 Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) posts were accepted from September 26 to October 26. The BPSSC will soon announce the schedule for the preliminary examination. The SI recruitment consists of a preliminary examination, a main written examination, and then a PET.
Exams for Range Officer, Enforcement Sub-Inspector, and Assistant Jail Superintendent have also been finalised. Interviews for 24 Forest Range Officer posts are being conducted from November 19 to 21. Candidates are downloading their call letters from the Commission’s website.

Meanwhile, the Commission has also released the exam dates for the Enforcement Sub-Inspector (33 posts) and Assistant Jail Superintendent (Ex-Servicemen), 25 posts.

- Enforcement Sub-Inspector Exam – December 14 (Two Shifts)
- Admit cards for these exams will be available from November 19.
